Tata Motors has been clear in its views to deliver cars with advanced modern technologies. The Indian auto giant has come up with its latest engine based on innovative Revotron technology. Tata Motors has launched a revolutionary petrol engine - “The Revotron1.2T”, on 4th July, 2014. The Revotron 1.2T has been engineered to deliver optimum balance of performance, refinement, and economy. The Revotron engine delivers an impressive max power of 90PS along with the best-in-class low end torque figures of about 140Nm @1750-3500 rpm.
The Revotron engine has been developed using a range of eco-friendly and future-oriented technologies. To take you through a quick walk down the technology lane, this next-gen petrol engine incorporates the latest technology like the multi-drive modes, that allows you to choose your mode to match the road you’re on and the mood you’re in. Switch to the Sport mode for power, Eco mode for mileage, and City mode to drive with balance between the two. The Advance Engine Management Systems (AMS) provides digitally precise control for vehicle performance and emissions.
Speaking more on the new technology, Mr. Ranjit Yadav, President, Passenger Vehicles, Tata Motors, said, “The Revotron 1.2T has been developed by us with inputs from renowned global players like AVL, Bosch, Honeywell, Mahle, INA in the area of combustion, boosting, friction and calibration, to deliver class-leading performance.” Tata Motors has delivered this new masterpiece post joint efforts being put-in by a global design team. Revotron - One of the most awaited engines in India this year, is finally a reality post investing about 3,00,000 hours of research and development.
Narain Karthikeyan, India’s first F1 driver, who has been associated with Revotron's development stages, said, “I’ve been very closely involved in the development of the Revotron 1.2T. It is the first turbocharged MPFi petrol engine in its class, and one of the most advanced in the market. Coupled with the amazing multi-drive mode, it offers immense flexibility in terms of balancing performance and fuel efficiency."
To make the launch special and define the Revotron engine's potential, Tata Motors has installed hi-tech hologram displays in over 75 dealerships. The holograms features Narain Karthikeyan introducing customers to the exciting features of the Revotron and its functions. To further ease technological know-how, Tata Motors has set-up Revotron Labs across the country to enable consumers to experience Revotron technology. The Labs have received a binaural sound zone that truly brings alive the Revotron and its raw power. The special zone provides a one of a kind 3D audio experience of the engine and its driving modes. The Labs also feature interactive touch glass panels that educate customers about the Revotron in an interactive medium. Through augmented reality, visitors can also click a photo with Narain Karthikeyan in the Lab. The picture gets uploaded onto the Facebook page of the user.
To further increase the interactivity level, Tata Motors has launched, “The Revotron Challenge” racing game. The game allows the player to drive the virtual Zest, and experience the first-in-class multi-drive modes i.e. Sport, Eco and City. The game is available free of cost and can be downloaded through Apple App Store and Google Play Store for mobile devices. It can also be played online, on the Revotron micro-site or at your nearest Revotron Lab.
Tata Motors has also made considerable investments in the digital space. A unique Twitter activation was used to unveil the engine gradually on the new Revotron micro-site. People were asked to use #RevUpTheRevotron with their tweets, which contributed to the live counter on the micro-site, adding up to the 3,00,000 hours and unveiling the Revotron. This represents the number of hours put into research and developmental testing on the Revotron. The upcoming Zest and Bolt will be powered by the Revotron 1.2T. With all the efforts put-in by Tata Motors, the Revotron technology definitely speaks volumes about its performance, economy and refinement offering.
