      Suzuki launches new mass segment bike Hayate in India at starting price of Rs 40,162

      Suzuki Motorcycles India Pvt Ltd, the Indian unit of the Japanese auto giant Suzuki, has launched its much awaited mass market bike - Hayate – in the Indian market. The launch of new Hayate is a part of company’s future expansion plans through which it is aiming to grab a significant chunk of the mass segment of bikes in India.

      The company has rolled-out the new Hayate in both kick start and manual start versions priced at Rs 40,162 and Rs 42,162, respectively. Powered by a four-stroke, air-cooled, 112 cc engine, the new Hayate bike delivers a superb mileage of 70 km per liter.

      While speaking on the occasion, National Head (Sales) of SMIPL, Mr. Anand Thakur said, “With this product, we expect to gain a market share of five per cent. We also plan to have products in all segments of two-wheeler business."

      Meanwhile, the company is aggressively expanding its production capacity in the Indian auto market. It plans to take its total manufacturing capacity to 5.4 lakh units by year 2013, as compared to current capacity of 3.6 lakh units per annum.
