Jaguar’s 2015 XE saloon has eventually been revealed in London, the saloon will go on sale in international markets in early 2015, however as for the domestic market is concerned, the sedan could be introduced here around the festive season next year. The entry level saloon will be available for sale in global markets at starting price of £ 27,000 which in Indian currency is equivalent to Rs 26 lakh. In its segment, the saloon will rival the likes of Audi A3, BMW X3 Mercedes Benz C-Class. 2015 is being claimed as the most fuel efficient saloon from the stables of Jaguar, all thanks to its light weight.
According to Jaguar, the saloon can return 75 mpg that is around 26 kmpl on EU combined cycle. Developed on the new modular vehicle architecture, the new XE saloon boasts of a long wheelbase and low seating position. A set of engines from the Jaguar’s Ingenium family will be powering the sedan. Four and six cylinder petrol and diesel powertrains will be housed in their respective variants. The high end trim, XE S will get supercharged 3.0 litre V5 engine that is capable of belting out a top power and torque output of 335 Bhp and 450 Nm.
Cabin gets classier with the presence of some of the high end features embedded inside. New infotainment system with an eight inch touchscreen that is compatible to integrate with a smartphone via InControl will be equipped inside the cabin. This system also enables to pre-set climate control for each day in a week and permits to lock and unlock the doors. Engine can also be started remotely though this system. Multiple devices can be connected to internet through WiFi hotspot configured in the XE. However it remains to be seen if the India spec model will feature all these equipments or will Jaguar cut on some of the features to confine the price.
