      Skoda Superb's Ambition Trim Discontinued

      Czech automaker, Skoda has silently discontinued the Ambition trim of the Superb sedan from India. Launched in February this year, the vehicle was available in two trim levels- Ambition and Elegance. Now, the sedan is offered in top-spec Elegance trim only. Now, the Elegance 1.8 MT TSI is the new base variant which is priced at Rs. 20.91 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi. The other two variants of the sedan include the Elegance TSI AT and Elegance TDI AT tagged at Rs. 22.48 lakh and Rs. 25.39 lakh, respectively.

      The Skoda Superb facelift is available in both petrol and diesel fuel options. The diesel version of the sedan is powered by a 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine that is capable of producing a top power output of 138bhp and a peak torque of 320Nm. Its gasoline model has the 1.8-litre turbocharged petrol unit that develops 158bhp and 250Nm of top torque. An automatic transmission comes as standard, while the petrol version also gets six-speed manual transmission.

      The Superb facelift comes as a CKD (Completely Knocked Down) unit, and then assembled at the company’s Aurangabad assembly. It comes equipped with an all-new front fascia with an all-new “butterfly” grille flanked by bi-xenon headlamps with integrated LED daytime running lamps. The Elegance trim features power washers and C-shaped strip of seven LED segments on the front turn indicators. At the rear, the vehicle has new bumper, spoiler and boot lid. The number plate has been moved up to the boot lid from the bumper.
