      Scorpio attains a new benchmark; crossed yearly sales of more than 50,000 units in Fiscal 2011

      Mahindra and Mahindra Limited, the Indian multinational auto manufacturer, announced on 30th April 2012 that its legendary Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV), Scorpio has set another benchmark for the company as it registered highest yearly sales from beginning. In fiscal 2011, the company reported sales of 50,844 units, showing a growth of 17 per cent under the review of 43,451 units during fiscal 2010.

      The presence of this car in the Indian market can be also judged from its fan base of more than 1 million hits on Facebook, a social networking website. In addition, the online group of Scorpio on Facebook is counted among the biggest online car communities over Facebook India. The presence of this brand can be also gauged from the YouTube channel of Scorpio, which has witnessed around 1.5 million views. The delightful charisma of this iconic brand can be also experienced in a wide range of fan clubs, which are managed by customers in both – real as well as virtual world over the years.

      Mahindra Scorpio has emerged as a legendary SUV in the Indian market, which has repeatedly enticed movie enthusiasts with its presence in several films. For the fans of Scorpio, the time-line of this iconic car is depicted in a Coffee Table Book, “The Legend of Scorpio.”

      This powerful car was offered by Mahindra in 2002, which has grabbed three renowned titles, ‘Car of the Year’ awards, which includes BBC, CNBC Autocar and Business Standard Motoring in its launch year. Scorpio is counted among the most appraised brands in the Indian auto industry. Considering the performance of Scorpio, it seems that Mahindra has offered this car in the market to outpace existing records. In addition, the car has received pole position by emerging as an Official Intervention Vehicle for tenure of 5 years for all the motorsports at the Buddh International Circuit. It also includes F1TM Airtel Indian Grand Prix, which was scheduled in October 2011.

      Owing to the success of Scorpio, the company also introduced an upgraded version of this car, the all new ‘Scorpio Ex’ in 2011. The new car is incorporated with advancements like great mileage, easy drivability and redefined performance, which targets young buyers.
