JD Power Asia Pacific has acclaimed Hyundai Santro to be the most dependable car in India. Hyundai Motor India Limited is the wholly owned subsidiary of Korean auto maker Hyundai Motor Company. It bagged the numero uno position in Vehicle Dependability Study carried out by JD Power Asia Pacific 2008 in the compact car segment.
The study consisted of car owners who have been on road for nearly 30 to 42 months. The parameter against which various were tested were performance, fuel efficiency, safety norms and emission standards.
"This is deeply satisfying. The Santro's success in being ranked as the best compact car only confirms our commitment to quality. This endorsement of our products by a body like this speaks volumes for the reliability of Hyundai cars," said the Managing Director of Hyundai Motors India Limited, HS Lheem.
The small car segment in India consists of nearly two-third of the sales in the country. Maruti is the market leader in small car segment while Hyundai holds the second position. It has recently launched its new model i10 in the same segment earlier this year which has also marked a milestone in the same car segment by getting more than 1 lakh export orders in less than 7 months of its launch.
