The country’s largest car maker Maruti Suzuki said on Friday that its sales are expected to surge by 8 to 10 percent, as compared to massive surge of 30 percent registered last fiscal.

In a recent statement, General Manager and Commercial Business Head (South) Manohar Bhat said, "We lost production. Last year's sales were abnormally good with 30 per cent growth. This year we are looking at a growth rate in the range of 8-10 per cent only."

Though sales have been sluggish thus far, the car sales are expected to recover during the upcoming festival season in October, when a number of new cars are scheduled to be launched in the country.

Meanwhile, Maruti has rolled-out the new generation version of its Swift hatchback in the Indian market. The car is receiving an overwhelming response from the buyers in the country and will certainly contribute in revamping company’s sales figures in coming months. Maruti Suzuki is aiming to sell about 17,000 units of this car per month in the Indian auto market, as compared to sales of 12,000 units per month registered by the previous generation model.

At present, the company has a capacity of producing 12 lakh units of its cars annually including 8.5 lakh units per annum at Gurgaon plant and 3.5 lakh units at Manesar plant. The current line-up of the company in India include hatchbacks like Alto, Wagon R, A-Star, Zen Estillo, Swift and Ritz, Sedans like Swift Dzire and SX4 and premium sedan Kizashi.
