Force One, the much awaited sports utility vehicle, on Friday launched in the Indian auto market. The new SUV from Force Motors will be available for sale from the starting of next month. The company has also said that it will launch two more variants of the vehicle next year, once the SUV gets established in the country.
Speaking to the reporters on the occasion of launching ceremony, Prasan Firodia, Managing director of the firm, said, "The market potential for SUVs is 70,000 vehicles and we aim to sell about 4,000 vehicles in the first year (of launch)."
The company has invested about Rs 150 crore over a period of last one and a half year to develop this SUV in the Indian auto market. The SUV will be produced from company’s Pithampur unit, Madhya Pradesh. With an installed capacity of 12,000 units per annum, the capacity of this plant can be ramped-up further.
According to company, the new SUV will cost around Rs 10.7 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), where it will be competing with the likes of Tata Safari, Mahindra Scorpio and Skoda Yeti. The SUV is equipped with a range of performance enhancing features to ensure a power packed performance on off road journeys.
