Speaking more about Renaults plans, a source close to development process said, “The Indian version of the Captur will see some changes versus the European version that was launched in 2013. The most major part is that the length is likely to be brought down to under four meters to avail of excise duty benefits, from the current 4.1 metres.” Commenting further on the occasion, Gaurav Vangaal, senior analyst for light vehicle forecasting at IHS Automotive said, “One good product can change the fortune of a brand in India, and that is the beauty of the Indian market. Who else knows it better than Renault, which has already proved its prowess in the SUV segment. Bringing out another small SUV will be a befitting reply to competitors, when its sedans and hatchbacks are struggling.”

The upcoming Renault Captur stated to be based on the fourth generation Renault Clio platform was showcased in production version on 2013 Geneva Motor Show held in April back then. The vehicle had been launched in the French market sometime in 2013 and has witnessed impressive sales. The company has not spoken on the pricing aspect yet, but it being positioned against Ford Ecosport and Maruti XA Alpha.
