      Nissan plans on having 300 dealership outlets in India by 2016

      Japanese carmaker Nissan has been a decent performer in terms of auto sales in the country. Recently, the company has inaugurated two new dealership outlets in the country one being in Delhi and the other in Mumbai. Over the next two year period the company shall have about 300 new dealership outlets in the country with about 50% of them being inaugurated in smaller cities and towns.

      Speaking more on the occasion, Guillaume Sicard, Nissan India operations President, said to PTI, “We plan to double our dealership network by the end of next year. This is our vision. Apart from big cities we are also working hard to establish presence in tier II and tier III towns. We want to focus on bigger cities with Nissan brand and Datsun vehicles will primarily target smaller towns and peripheries of bigger cities.” Speaking about the Datsun brand in India, Sicard said, “As far as Datsun brand is concerned we had said that we would launch three cars in the country. We have already launched two and and the third would be introduced in the next two years.”

      As of now the company already has about 160 dealership outlets in the country . When questioned regarding the time-frame for separate Nissan and Datsun brands in the country, he said that it would likely not happen before a five year period.
