The French manufacturer was recently spotted testing their forth coming hot hatch, the Renault Megane RS. This was the second occasion where the test mule was spied doing laps around the Nürburgring.

The carmaker`s flagship hatchback sported a heavy camouflage at that time. However, the test mule still displayed a few new styling elements of the upcoming Megane RS. The hot hatch features a huge air vent up front and the ‘chequered flag’ style DRLs which contour the projector headlamp assembly. The car appears to be lowered, and gets a sporty body kit to improve the aerodynamics.

Powering the hot hatch could be a 1.8-litre turbocharged in-line four cylinder engine from the Alpine A110 instead of the 2.0-litre turbocharged engine. Either way, Renault has confirmed that the upcoming hot hatch will produce power figures over 300bhp. The front wheel drive engine is expected to be mated to an EDC dual-clutch automatic gearbox. However, for the driving enthusiast a six-speed manual gear box could be on offer too.

The hatch back is likely to make an unveiling at the Frankfurt Motor show in September 2017. However, the French manufacturer seems to be heading towards shattering the Japanese’s record, of the Honda Civic being the fastest front wheel drive at the Nordschleife track in Nurburgring. After its launch, the Renault Megane RS will rival against the Audi RS3, Mercedes-AMG A45, BMW M135i, Ford Focus RS and the Volkswagen Golf R.
