Renault India registered a 32-fold increase in its 2012 December sales with figures standing at 5924 units against 185 units delivered in corresponding period of 2011. This massive surge is mainly driven by its newly launched Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) Duster as in December 2011; the French auto maker only had two models in its Indian portfolio, namely Koleos and Fluence sedan.
In December 2012, Renault India sold 4485 units of Duster, 820 units of Scala, 515 units of Pulse, 68 units of the Fluence and 36 units of Koleos. Renault's cumulative sales figures in 2012 stood at 35052 units with a 25-fold increase against the figures of 2011 wherein 1401 units were delivered to Indian buyers.
Expressing his views on sales performance, the Managing Director, Marc Nassif said, “It is very satisfying for all of us at Renault to close the year with sales of over 35,000 units and delivering what we promised in the beginning of the year to our prospective customers.” He further said that the sales momentum would continue in 2013. “The market continues to remain sluggish with high inflation, fuel price hike and high interest rates. If the market dynamics improve, the automotive industry is sure to get a boost in the coming year,” Nassif added.
