Renault India is readying to bring forth its upcoming new product for India, the company will launch Lodgy MPV in India early next year. Caught on test a number of times in various parts of the country, Lodgy MPV is expected to be a capacious offering in its segment. Renault will most likely roll out Lodgy MPV in petrol and diesel guise. Designed austerely, the MPV should appeal to customers who look for space in a vehicle. Already available in international markets, Lodgy sports chrome garnish around the front grille. However it is being expected that the India-spec model will get a chrome glutted front. Inside the cabin, two-tone colour scheme of beige and brown could be seen. Unlike the overseas variant, India bound model could come devoid of the infotainment system.
Power is expected to come from the same 1.6 litre petrol engine that is currently housed in Duster compact SUV. The 1.6 litre engine is capable of developing 102 HP of top power output along with peak torque of 145 Nm. Diesel range of MPV is likely to house 1.5 litre K9K diesel engine that belts out maximum power of 84 HP. A five-speed manual transmission will be mated to both petrol and diesel engines. Possibility of an auto box is completely ruled out.
The MPV is expected to lock horns with other vehicles in its segment including Toyota Innova, Maruti Ertiga, Honda Mobilio, Chevrolet Enjoy and Nissan Evalia. On the price front we expect the vehicle to be priced between aggressively as Maruti Ertiga and recently launched Honda Mobilio are available at an affordable price, hence to combat the extreme competition Renault needs to price the MPV competitively.
