Competition begins here way before the MUV’s are even launched in the market. First glimpse of yet to be launched Mobilio was seen at the Auto Expo event. The launch shall also be a milestone event for Honda, as the car-maker shall venture into this MPV segment which has been left untouched for a while. French automaker Renault has been working on developing its very own MPV named 'Lodgy'.
The production version of Renault Lodgy may receive 1.5-litre K9K diesel engine that has been successful with Duster. The Lodgy MPV is expected to be longer than Mobilio MPV, but might measure shorter than Innova. The MPV is already in sale in other international markets, in India the company is likely to bring petrol and diesel variants of the MPV. The suavely designed MPV is expected to be priced aggressively for the domestic market which means it could be a potential threat for the rest of vehicles in its segment.
Honda Mobilio MPV shall be available in Petrol as well as Diesel variants. The petrol version shall be powered by 1.5 Liter petrol engine. The diesel variant also gets a 1.5 Liter turbo diesel engine. Both the engines have been mated to 5 Speed manual gearbox. Based on unofficial reports, the Mobilio MUV is expected to deliver a fuel efficiency of about 25.8 kmpl. Details on the pricing aspect have not been revealed for now and may only be known post its launch in the country.
Honda cars are known to be styled meticulously and are also equipped well. Going by Honda’s tradition, the new Mobilio MPV is also expected to be inherited with the forenamed traits. In a bid to overpower its closest rival, Ertiga, Honda is working on making the third row more comfortable for the occupants. Arnaud Deboeuf, Renault Group’s Entry Programme Director, said, “With Renault branding, it perfectly meets the demands of our international customers and is contributing to Renault’s expansion in emerging markets.” The Duster SUV from Renault offered at a starting price tag of Rs. 7.78 Lakhs (Ex-showroom Delhi). The price for the 4x4 variant is unknown and only shall be revealed post an announcement made by the company stating its launch.
