After registering a considerable growth in the Indian auto market in year 2011, the French car maker Renault is now gearing-up to enter the next phase of its portfolio expansion plans in the Indian market. After rolling-out premium segment models like premium sedan Fluence and luxury compact sports utility vehicle Koleos in India, the company is now looking forward to mark its debut in the volume driven small car segment. The company is looking forward to launch a highly fuel efficient small car in India, in competition with popular cars like Maruti Alto, Hyundai EON and Chevrolet Spark.

The launch of a new small car is part of company’s top to down approach in the Indian auto market, as per which it planned to first establish itself in the premium segment, followed by expansion in the volume drive small car segment.

While speaking to the Business Line, Mr. Marc Nassif, Managing Director of the Renault Indian, said, “We are on course with our plans and will ramp up our dealer network rapidly. The idea is to be on the fast track while ensuring that customers get the best in quality and service. This is the beginning of an exciting journey for Renault.”

Meanwhile the company is all set to roll-out two new portfolio models in India including compact hatchback Pulse and SUV Duster.
