The Duster compact SUV has been the flagship vehicle for Renault in India. In order to continue delivering to customer expectations and keeping overall cost of vehicle low as well as keeping the maintenance cost low, the company plans on increasing localization from current 70% to about 80%.

      Renault Duster

Renault Duster has been present in India for about three years now, and during this tenure it has sold over 1,30,000 units. Moreover, for the company it has been the best selling model. However, in recent times, with the launch of Hyundai Creta and the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross, the Duster sales have been noted to take a backseat. Back in August last year, Renault reportedly sold about 3,101 units, whereas this year in the same period it has managed to sell only about 1,109 units, which in terms of percentage is about 64%.

In the period between April – August 2015, Renault managed to sell only about 7,560 units, therefore indicating on the importance of increase in plan of action. Apart from localization, the company is also in process of expanding it sales and service network. To begin with, it may have about 205 outlets by this year end and by the end of 2016 it could have about 280 units. The move could also help the company achieve a anticipated market share of about 5% by 2017.
