Duster 4X4 variant sold in international markets is housed with a K9K 1.5 litre four cylinder, 8 valve, diesel engine that is good for a maximum power of 107 hp and a peak torque of 240 Nm. Petrol powered Duster is packed with a 1.6 litre, four cylinder mill that generates a top power of 105 Hp and a pinnacle torque of 148 Nm. Diesel and petrol variants are paired with a six-speed manual transmission.

Launched in July 2012 at a prelusive price of Rs 7.2 lakh (ex-showroom price) Duster has received a good response from customers in India. Duster is a strong contender in compact SUV segment that competes with the likes of Ford EcoSport and Nissan Terrano. The SUV posted strong sales in last fiscal at 46,700 units, though Duster’s tough competitor, EcoSport gave a strong competition at 45,000 units within nine months of its launch in June 2013. Mahindra’s decade old full grown SUV outnumbered both the forenamed SUVs at 50,900 units in last financial year. However, sales report for calendar year 2013 tell a different story, in 2013 Renault sold as many as 51,400 units of Duster in India, overpowering both Scorpio and EcoSport.

Duster also achieved a global sales mark of one million units within four years of its launch. The SUV is sold in 100 countries under Renault and Dacia brands.
