Keeping in line with GM India's aggressive plans of expansion, the step has been taken to appoint Rajesh Singh. "GM regards India as a significant growth opportunity and we are delighted to have Rajesh Singh leading our marketing, sales and service operations to accelerate our momentum here. We are confident that Rajesh, with his wealth of experience in the field of vehicle sales, service and marketing, will accelerate GM's emergence as a significant volume player in Indian market," said Lowell Paddock, President and Managing Director, GM India, commenting on the impact of the new VP. However, Ashwani Muppasani is not moving out from the company, but will be assigned a different role, to be announced on a separate forum.

Muppasani has served his role of being VP for Purchasing and Supply Chain Operations and VP for VSSM. Along with improving the efficiency of the purchasing and supply chain in India, he also helped to enhance the stability of the sales and marketing operations, and supported the successful launch of the Chevrolet Sail U-VA. This can be said to be one of the major transition periods for GM India.
