Celebrities in the Indian film industry (Bollywood) are well known for their penchant for fancy cars and two-wheelers. Whether it is Bipasha Basu with her Porsche Cayenne, Salman Khan with the latest edition of the Suzuki Hayabusa or Sunil Shetty with his Hummer H3, the glamorous quotient has always been associated with the envious set of wheels owned by these superstars. Most recently, in the film 'Ferrari ki Sawaari', a red 360 Modena Ferrari which was handed over by F1 driver Michael Schumacher to Sachin Tendulkar, was used.

Popular film star Akshay Kumar gifted his wife Twinkle Khanna a Bentley on the occasion of her birthday, in 2009. With this gift, the Kumar family joins an exclusive club of Bentley owners, with cars costing over Rs. 3 crores. When Manyata gave birth to twins, husband Sanjay Dutt gifted her with a Rolls Royce Silver Ghost. After the success of 'Jaane tu ya Jaane Na', Aamir Khan gave his nephew Imran a BMW, worth Rs. 50 lakhs. Shahrukh Khan, not to be left behind, got a custom designed luxury bus from well known Indian automotive designer Dilip Chhabria (DC).

Blockbuster movies such as Dhoom (I and II) started the trend of racy bikes being used in films, and there has been no looking back ever since. John Abraham blazed down Mumbai streets on a Suzuki Hayabusa GSX 1300r. The Suzuki Bandit 1200 S, a younger sibling of the Hayabusa, was driven by Uday Chopra in both versions of this film. Going back several years, in the film Agneepath, where Amitabh Bachhan arrives to keep his 'Appointment with death', his Mustang is shot to pieces. Not to be left back, an Omni van is used in almost every movie that has a kidnapping scene!

As is the case with the vehicles being used in Bollywood films so far, it is quite natural that with better cars and bikes being launched every year, the usage of modern vehicles for stunts will only be higher in the future. Movies that make use of many super cars and super bikes always generate greater excitement than those without these. As an example, each version of Dhoom makes use of more powerful bikes than the previous one. Even the new Golmaal had many old vehicles such as Standard 2000 and Cielo being used for a rally sequence. However, Bollywood has a long way to go before reaching the ivy league of machines being used in Hollywood films (the Fast and the Furious).
