It’s no secret that Suzuki is working on an iM-4 concept based compact SUV, which was showcased at the 2015 Geneva International Motor Show. Now, the patent images of the iM-4’s production version have emerged online. The leaked images suggest that the final production model of the compact SUV will share resemblance with its concept. Though, the overall styling will be toned down. The company claims that the Suzuki iM-4 has SUV DNA, coupled with advanced technology and uniqueness.
Designed on ‘Shape the Inspiration’, the production-spec iM-4 will feature conventional headlamps instead of LED units. On the side profile, the car sports smaller wheels, conventional outside rear view mirrors and turn indicators. While the concept showed up with flush doors handles, the production model gets pull-style units. It might also get blacked out A and B pillars. At the rear end, it loses out on integrated roof mounted spoiler.
Similar to the WagonR, the iM-4 features a tallboy design and a high ground clearance. The compact SUV will be based on Suzuki’s new-generation platform that also underpins the upcoming Baleno premium hatchback. For International markets, the production-spec iM-4 is likely to be available with the choice of two engines – a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbo petrol and a 1.2-litre Dualijet engine.
