Yet another labor strike at the Manesar facility of India’s largest car maker Maruti Suzuki has disrupted the car manufacturing operations, almost creating a standstill at this giant car making plant. The labor unrest has choked the supply of essential components to the car maker’s Gurgaon manufacturing units. As per the company, the Manesar plant strike has caused a revenue loss of over Rs 1,215 crore, so far.

The trouble for Maruti Suzuki does not seems to be ending very soon as the key supplier of engines and transmissions – Suzuki Power train India Limited – is also witnessing a strike since Friday. The production at Maruti’s Gurgaon plant dipped to 1800 units on Monday, as compared to daily production mark of 2800 units.

The striking workers are demanding the reinstatement of over 1,000 contractual workers. On the other hand, the company is saying that it will take back the casual workers once the production will be expended.

In a statement given on Monday, the Maruti Suzuki Spokesman said that the production will fall down further if the strike continues. According to industry sources, there is a massive shortage of essential components at all three integrated plants of the firm in Manesar-Gurgaon belt, and just a few days inventory left to produce cars.
