      Crossover segment is fastly gaining popularity in the Indian automotive industry. Maruti Suzuki, India’s leading carmaker does not want to be left too far behind in this competition and has planned to bring-in the S-Cross. Maruti Suzuki displayed the S-Cross at the 2014 Auto Expo event held in Delhi. At the event many of the visitors remembered the good old car Suzuki Grand Vitara. The yet to be launched S-Cross would be the first attempt by the India’s largest carmaker to gain a footing in the crossover segment. Toyota Etios Cross has recently been launched in the Indian market. The crossover Etios Cross from Toyota has received a love-hate kind of response from the local masses. As per details given by Mr. N. Raja, Director and Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, the Etios Cross has registered about 5,400 bookings by last month, thereby, indicating on the vehicle's success in the Indian market.

      Maruti Suzuki S-Cross is expected to be powered by a 1.6 litre petrol engine that is capable of generating about 120 PS of power with 156 Nm of torque. It is anticipated that S-Cross may also be available in a diesel version powered by Fiat's 1.6-litre MultiJet engine. The current version that was unveiled at Auto Expo 2014 seems to be similar to the one showcased at the Geneva Motor Show. Exact technical specifications have not been revealed for now and may be spoken in detail at a later date. As per sources, along with the two wheel drive option, the SX4 S-Cross is also expected to be an all 4 wheeled drive. Its fairly powered engine shall be mated to a 6 speed gearbox.

      Maruti Suzuki S-Cross features a good amount of ground clearance, this seems to be coming from the generation old trend that the car-maker had been following. The car comes with some distinctive styling and looks a bit mature in this segment. The S-Cross displayed at the recently held Auto Expo event has received an impressive 5-star Euro NCAP rating for its overall safety. Pricing for the car has not been revealed for now by the Indian car-maker and it is anticipated that it may be revealed post the car goes on sale at a later date. Reportedly, Maruti Suzuki has also been working on the latest stylish sedan named Ciaz for the Indian market. As for the S-Cross launch, it is anticipated to be put up for grabs sometime in 2015.

      Test reviews for Toyota Etios Cross state that the crossover delivers the convenience of a hatchback alongside the ruggedness of an off roader. The car has been designed to tackle both segments at the same time with perfection. The vehicle is available in Petrol as well as diesel variants. The diesel version is stated to be powered by the existing 1.4-litre D4D engine that generates about 68 Bhp, whereas the petrol versions shall be powered by 1.2 Liter and 1.5-litre variant that generates about 79 Bhp and 89 Bhp of power respectively. The car is said to be loaded with interesting safety features like ABD and EBD systems to make your journey's more secured and comfortable.

      For the Interiors, the Etios Cross has received adjustable headrests, black seat fabric and chrome enhancements on the dashboard. To enhance your entertainment experience the car comes with a 2 DIN audio system loaded with Bluetooth, Aux-in and USB compatibility. The interiors look smart and carry an upmarket feel. The crossover has been launched in petrol as well as diesel variant. The petrol range starts from Rs 5.76 lakh for the basic G version, whereas the high end petrol trim, V is available for sale at Rs 7.35 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Diesel trims, GD and VD are priced at Rs 6.90 lakh and Rs 7.40 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) respectively. The new Etios Cross is available in eight interesting color options namely - Inferno Orange, Ultramarine Blue, Classic Grey, Symphony Silver, Celestial Black, White, Vermilion Red and Harmony Beige.
