With an aim of creating a buzz in the Indian automobile market about its soon-to-be launched compact Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV), the EcoSport Urban Discoveries campaign was launched by Ford India Private Limited. The American auto maker has received more than 8000 entries from the domestic EcoSport fans, for participation in the contest. This clearly shows that a lot of excitement has been created and most Indians are eagerly awaiting the launch of the new Ford EcoSport compact SUV.
Through the EcoSport Urban Discoveries social media campaign, 105 lucky participants will get a chance to drive the compact SUV for a period of 21 days. The last date to participate in this competition was March 31, 2013. Short listed candidates in Mumbai Ludhiana and Chennai were announced on April 8, while those in Chandigarh, Pune and Kochi would be declared on April 10, 2013. In addition, the list of candidates chosen from Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Delhi are to be announced on April 12 and information for Jaipur, Kolkata and Hyderabad participants are to be revealed on April 14.
The EcoSport has already been showcased at malls in Delhi, Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Chandigarh, Kochi, Ludhiana and Bangalore. It would continue to be seen in other malls of Pune, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Jaipur and Hyderabad, while the competition advances into successive stages. Ford EcoSport is scheduled to be officially launched across the country in the month of June 2013. It gets two engine options, namely a 1.5 litre turbo diesel and a 1.0 litre Ford EcoBoost petrol engine. With a tremendous ground clearance of 210 mm, the vehicle would cross over the worst of roads with ease. On the interior and exterior front, this compact SUV has the wherewithal to take on competition from Renault Duster, Mahindra Quanto and Premier Rio in India. Industry experts believe that the vehicle will definitely be able to live up to the hype already generated, since it was first witnessed at the 2012 New Delhi Auto Expo.
