The Indian subsidiary of the German premier car maker Audi is all set to launch a lightweight version of its popular luxury A6-Sedan in the market. The car will be introduced in both petrol and diesel variants. To muscle the automaker’s major volume puller, the company incorporates a 2.0L turbo diesel. The 2.0L TDI turbo-diesel engine generates 177 Bhp of peak power and 360 Nm of peak torque. The high-powered diesel version has a 3.0L TDI engine. On the other hand, the high powered Petrol version 3.0 TFSI engine uses a turbo-charged setup and renders more power while using 10-15 percent less fuel compared to simple naturally aspirated engines. Additionally, it has a higher power range of 300 hp. A 2.8 litre naturally aspirated version is also set to debut in the new Audi A6.

The new Audi A6 has a longer wheelbase (3 inches longer) and due to its light weight promises much better performance and fuel economy. The start-stop technology further enhances its fuel efficiency. A seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox will be standard across the range (except base model). The base model will have six-speed manual transmission.

The new A6 car possesses bold and charismatic headlights, along with functional dashboard and steering wheel that are other feathers in its cap. The centre console is a little bit inclined towards the driver, but the optional air-suspension system can be set according to individual driving styles. Furthermore, the standard leather seats also add to the interiors of the car.

Like previous models, the new Audi A6 is equipped with an electronic stability system, standard antilock brakes and blind spot monitoring system. In order to ensure safe driving, a collision avoidance system called ‘pre sense’ is incorporated, which is an important safety feature. This will warn the driver and then apply brakes automatically whenever it will detect a pending collision through its radar and other sensors.

The Active Lane Assist, which shoves the car back into its lane if it goes off-track, too will be introduced. The A6 comes with two front, two front-seat-mounted side-impact and two side curtain airbags. It adopts the latest version of Audi's Multi Media Interface multifunction controller, including MMI touch. This system recognises letters drawn on a touchpad and associated LCD screen motors out of the centre control panel that rests just above dashboard level, which does not block the driver's view. Luxury buyers may feel happy to get such a dynamic design and sharp interior in the price range of Rs. 40 lacs.
