      Next-generation Ford Mustang to be showcased on 5th December

      Mustang is one of most iconic cars that the United States-based company, Ford, has ever produced. The production of Mustang began way back in 1964 and till today the car features in the line-up of the company. In the American car market, Mustang has carved its own niche and has been dubbed as a 'pony car' characterised by long hoods and short rear decks. Over the years, the car has evolved as a mean machine that boasts of good looks and power. Also, it has become an indispensable part of the American folklore, making appearances in classic films, music videos and fashion shows. At present, the fifth-generation version of Mustang is being produced and as announced by the company, the next-generation version of the car will make its debut on 5th December at “Go Further” event in Barcelona, Spain. Fans of this model, around the world, are quite anxious and excited about the next generation version.

      Reportedly, this car will be unveiled at the event along with other two models. Although it is not known what other models are but reports have suggested that the two will be sold in European markets. Before the event, Ford Mustang has generated an enormous amount of buzz worldwide with conflicting reports emerging about the body structure of the car. Reportedly, the next generation model of Ford Mustang bears numerous changes in design structure as it has a more aggressive muscular stance. At the front, the company has given a new headlight cluster panel containing LED lights apart from new reshaped grille. Sources have spoken much about the rear end, which gets the familiar three-bar taillamp design incorporating a new diffuser.

      Ford has already confirmed that new Mustang will go on sale in international markets by late 2014. The car is expected to be displayed at the upcoming New York Motor Show. As far as engine options are concerned, Ford Mustang is expected to be offered in different variants including a 2.3-litre four-cylinder EcoBoost with power ranging from 275 bhp to 310 bhp. Apart from these, the other two engine options might include a 3.7-litre V6 mill that gives away 305 bhp of power and 5.0-litre V8 unit that churns out 420 bhp.

      According to sources, the next generation Ford Mustang is based on an all new platform in which the company has extensively worked on lowering kerb weight of the car. Sources have claimed that the upcoming version of Mustang will be almost 91 kg lighter than the current version. As reported, the design cues of Mustang have been borrowed from the familiar design language adopted in Ford Fusion while the front fascia is influenced from the Evolution concept. Apart from this, the pony car of Ford would also be offered in a right hand drive option, which means it could be launched in Japan, United Kingdom, Australia and India.

      In terms of interiors, the company resort to a conventional design theme with three-spoke steering wheel apart from the integrated infotainment display. In terms of features, the car will come equipped with MyFord Touch, which shall be offered for the first time, reports have suggested. Other highlights of Mustang will be changeable ambient lighting system that spreads beyond the dials, cup holders, and speakers to other points within the cabin.
