Renault has decided to go independent in the Indian market after its joint venture with Mahindra snapped a short while ago. The company has new plans in line for the Indian market and is gearing to launch at least five new models in the country in next two years. The company will introduce its new hatchback model by 2012 which will be based on the new V-platform developed to produce cars for the emerging markets. Currently, Nissan Micra will be the first model to roll out from the newly built platform.

Renault’s products are known for their stylish stance and funky designs and the new hatchback is expected to be nothing short of bringing a new style statement in the small car segment.

Renault is also producing its ultra cheap car model in association with Bajaj Auto and Nissan. The project has for the time being come to a temporary stand still despite the announcement a short while ago from Bajaj MD that the company has resolved issues with its partners and the project is on track.

Renault Kangoo is yet another model that is likely to make way towards the Indian roads. The small MPV from Renault will compete with Maruti Eeco and Tata Venture. The vehicle is termed as “Leisure Activity Vehicle” in Europe and is expected to be aimed at the cab operators in India.
