      New Hyundai Elite i20 - Know it better

      Hyundai has launched new generation, i20, christened Elite i20 in India at a starting price of Rs 4.89 lakh for the base petrol model while the high end Asta petrol variant is available for Rs 6.47 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The global unveiling took place in the capital of India, New Delhi. Hyundai has launched new Elite i20 in both diesel and petrol guise in four trim levels each including- Era, Magna, Sportz, and Asta. While the old version has been phased out, we believe that deliveries of new Elite i20 should commence immediately. Boasting increased dimensions, Elite i20 is bigger than its predecessor. Wheelbase has been increased by 45mm that means cabin will proffer ample legroom for passengers, even the back row offer aplenty head room and leg room. Ground clearance too has been increased by 5mm at 170mm. Boot space stands at 285 litres which mean enough space for luggage storage. Hyundai has also worked on the NVH levels of the hatchback that has been improved substantially now.

      Entry level and mid level trims have been bestowed with 14 inch steel wheels as a standard option, while high end variant gets 16 inch diamond cut alloy wheels. Top-of-the-line version Asta now comes with two airbags instead of the previous six airbags. On the outside new Elite i20 gets auto head lights and auto folding wing mirrors. Except for the base Era trim, all variants get cooled glove box as a standard feature. Interiors are done in two-tone colour scheme, audio system with 1GB internal memory, eight speakers and rear AC vents are offered on the high end version. New features that have been embedded inside the cabin include in-built service indicator on the restyled multi-information display and steering position indicator. New Bluetooth system has also been inducted inside the hatch. Petrol variants are powered by the 1.2 litre engine claimed to return an impressive fuel efficiency of 18.6 kmpl. Diesel range gets the 1.4 litre, U2 CRDi diesel mill with displacement of 1,396cc capable of developing a top power of 90 PS and peak torque of 22.4 kgm. The diesel powertrain is vouched to return an excellent fuel economy of 22.54 kmpl. Five-speed manual transmission has been paired to both petrol and diesel engine options. Safety features such as dual airbags, anti-lock-braking system with electronic brakeforce distribution have been put on offer on Asta trim. Mid variant, Sportz on the other hand gets the driver airbag and ABS only. Hyundai claims that the new variant will offer improved handling and performance. New Elite i20 is available in seven colour options- Red Passion,Pristine Blue, Mystic Blue, Star Dust, Midas Gold, Polar White and Sleek Silver. The company plans on exporting new Elite i20 to various overseas markets with India being the manufacturing hub.
