Honda India will launch new Jazz in domestic market early next year. The company had discontinued Jazz production in early 2013 owing to launch of new generation model. Jazz’s new generation model will don Honda’s ‘Exciting H Design’ philosophy. As compared to its predecessor, Jazz’s new version has received copious changes. Among prominent exterior upgrades, a new front grille, redesigned head lamps and new bumper with large air-vents are included. Changes have also been made to rear, a set of new tail lamps will be incorporated with metallic inserts and turn indicators on the wing mirrors.

Restyling has also been done inside the cabin, courtesy enhanced wheelbase, the new Jazz is expected to offer increased leg space and ample luggage storing space. Refreshed Jazz will be offered in both petrol and diesel engine options. Petrol trims will come packed with a 1.2 litre i-VTEC engine that develops a top power output of 87 Bhp. Diesel range of Jazz will be housed with a 1.5 litre i-DTEC powertrain that generates a pinnacle power of 99 Bhp along with a peak torque of 200 Nm. Sources reveal that the new Jazz diesel is expected to return a segment best fuel economy of 26 kmpl.

Jazz in its small itinerary of four years failed to garner aplenty sales despite its impressive looks. Jazz’s previous generation was a sizeable offing in B segment, however wrong pricing played the culprit and Jazz could not spill magic in domestic market. Despite price slash announced for the hatchback in 2011, things did not improve much. In India, the hatchback will face competition from hatchbacks like Maruti Swift, new Volkswagen Polo and Hyundai i20.
