      Audi begins local assembly of A3 sedan; launch on August 7th 2014

      German auto giant, Audi has commenced local assembling of its upcoming entry level premium saloon, Audi A3 at its manufacturing facility located in Aurangabad. The production has begun days ahead of its launch in India on August 7th, 2014. Powering petrol range of A3, christened ’40 TFSI’ will be a 1.8 litre, four cylinder TFSI engine capable of outputting a top power of 180 Bhp along with a peak torque of 250 Nm. The engine will be paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch S-Tronic tranny. Diesel trims, dubbed, ’35 TDI’ on the other hand will come housed with a 2.0 liter, four cylinder, powertrain capable of engendering a pinnacle power and torque output of 143 Bhp and 320 Nm respectively. A six-speed S-Tronic gearbox will be mated to the engine. Audi’s new saloon will be made available in petrol and diesel guise. Audi assembles most of its India bound models at its manufacturing unit such as A6, A4, Q5, Q7 and Q3.

      Petrol powered A3 is claimed to return a fuel economy of 16.6 kmpl and diesel engined A3 will deliver an ARAI certified mileage of 20.38 kmpl. An expected price ranging between Rs 25 lakh to Rs 30 lakh is being speculated for the entry level saloon.
