According to Autocar magazine, the VW Group Chairman has confirmed that Porsche is seriously considering smaller Porsche models. “The Porsche model range is firmly based on the 911, Boxster, Cayenne and Cayman, and it will stay that way. We are also investigating opportunities for a smaller sports car and a smaller SUV – but I cannot say more at the moment,” he said.

A new sports car model codenamed as “new 356” from Porsche placed under Porsche Boxter will hit the markets by 2012. The new model will be cheaper by few grands than its current smallest Boxter variant.

It is also rumored that a small SUV model may also be in the pipeline which could possibly be long rumored Roxter model. Porsche Cayenne is currently the only SUV model from Porsche which may also get power hybrid terrain and will debut at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show in March but the model may never hit the American shores. “Porsche is yet to confirm whether the Cayenne S Hybrid will be launched in the U.S. and the same goes for the hybrid version of the Panamera sedan due towards the end of the year,” stated Motor Authority, another online auto magazine.
