      New BMW Z4 to be launched on November 14

      BMW India, the domestic subsidiary of German premium car maker, seems all prepared for the launch of Z4 in the country. Reportedly, the model was unveiled during early 2013 with a number of updates and now it will be headed towards the Indian auto market. The model will be launched in Pune on 14th of November, 2013. The key changes of new BMW Z4 would be its 18-inch wheels, a new headlight cluster, reworked bumper, a new BMW grille and minor tweaks at rear. The model has been provided with sharp lines at its side profile. Sources close to the development process have revealed that the new BMW Z4 will be introduced with a new variant, sDrive 18i, which will be an entry level version.

      The interiors of upcoming Z4 are not much changed; however there are gloss surrounds for the central air conditioner vents with a foldable central display for iDrive system. New equipment at interiors include anthracite wood finish and a new leather trim. Coming to the technical configuration, the new BMW Z4 will come equipped with a new turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine, which will churn out a maximum power of around 153 bhp with 203 Nm of highest torque. Reportedly, this engine will power the base variant, Z4 Sdrive18i. Another variant of Z4 would be SDrive35i, which will be incorporated with a six-cylinder 3.0-litre petrol engine, belting out a maximum power of 300 bhp and 400 Nm of peak torque.

      The current generation model of BMW Z4 comes mated to a six-speed automatic transmission system, whereas the upcoming model will feature the ZF eight-speed automatic gearbox. The new Z4 will also feature updated ConnectedDrive system, which will now include new features like Real Time Traffic Updates, BMW Online Portal, GPS Navigation, Internet based entertainment, internet radio and Automatic Collision Notification. Sources have further said that the new Z4 will carry a price tag of Rs. 70 lakh as it will be brought through CBU (Completely Built Unit) route. Industry experts are of a view that post launch, new BMW Z4 will directly square off against the likes of Porsche Boxster, Audi TT and Mercedes SLK, which are currently ruling the respective segment.
