      New Audi A8 likely to be soon launched in India

      It has been speculated that Audi will soon launch the new A8 sedan in the Indian auto market. Earlier, the car was unveiled and is all set for the official launch at Frankfurt Auto Show in September, 2013. The new car from the Audi features numerous design and engine upgrades under the review of current generation model. The new A8 is a refreshed version of the current car that was launched in 2009. It is expected to go on sale globally from January, 2014. As the reports suggest, a camouflaged version of the all new Audi A8 has been spotted on being tested in Mumbai, hence industry experts can infer that the India launch is not too far.

      The car has a series of cosmetic and engine changes, which makes it an advanced version of the currently running model. Talking about aesthetic changes, grille, front bumpers and bonnet carry subtle revisions. Adding to that, high gloss black window surrounds and new chrome elements make it look more appealing than the existing variant. Rear lamps with sharper looks and the new optional ‘matrix LED’ head lights are the key highlights of the cosmetic changes being offered to the upcoming model. The headlights also adjust low level for better visibility in case of any vehicle approaching from the front side. At the same time, it continues to light up the road ahead. The new day time running lights and dynamic LED are also an addition to the model. These dynamic LED lights act as indicators that direct light towards the direction, car is turning.

      As far as the dimensions of new A8 are concerned, there have been no modifications reported and the same can be said about the chassis, as well. Talking about the engine, experts suggest power and efficiency certainly seem to be enhanced than the current generation model. Revisions made to the seven engines are expected to result in more power with low emissions. The well known 3.0-litre TDI now has around 255 bhp of maximum power at disposal as compared to the 248 bhp of the current car. V8 diesel engine in the new version produces 383 bhp of peak power and torque of up to 850 Nm, whereas the current car produces 348 bhp of power and 800 Nm of torque.

      The international spec 3.0TFSI petrol engine churns out 308 bhp of power, reporting a jump of around 18 bhp. The 4.0-litre twin turbo diesel now produces approximately 433 bhp of power. Interestingly, there is no change in the power of 6.2-litre W12 engine, which still produces around 498 bhp. As per analysts, the significant change here is the cylinder deactivation technology that is expected to enhance the efficiency in smooth driving conditions. With electric-only range of 3.1 km, the A8 Hybrid is a combination of 2.0-litre petrol engine and an electric motor. This engine produces 240 bhp of power and emits 147 kgpm of CO2.

      Its interiors look more lavish and feature exquisite usage of leather, wood and plastic. The new 360 degree parking assist camera system gives its driver an all around view of the car. Along with this, the parking assist feature regulates steering functions of the car. As per initial buzz, the new A8 from the brand with four rings is expected to feature wireless connectivity to allow passengers browse the Internet while travelling. Active noise cancellation inside the cabin (applicable for 4.0 TFSI, W12 and hybrid models) is another highlight in the new A8.
