The 2012 Beijing Motor Show set to commence by the end of this month will provide a platform for the global premiere of the upgraded Mercedes-Benz G Class that has completed 32nd year of production. The SUV with boxy styling intended for the Defence usage will comprise minor designing cues on the exterior front, restyled interiors and modern electronic devices along with an updated gearbox complemented by a new engine range.

On the exteriors, the G Class now endows a reworked grille that incorporates three striking slats surpassing the previous seven slats design that will be standard across all G Class models. Inclusion of new headlamps with horizontal LED lights, new alloy wheels, restyled mirror arrangement and renewed graphics on the tail lamps drapes the G Class models with contemporary looks.

The colour monitor that works in tandem with the German automaker’s latest command system is a welcome feature assisting the driver with the internet based operations. Other new features offered with G Class models include the park assist called Partktronic with reversing camera, Blind Spot Assist and an advanced Distronic Plus radar controlled cruise control system.

Mercedes-Benz has added two new models to the current G Class line up, G63 AMG and G65 AMG that differs from the standard G500 and G350 BlueTec models in terms of grille slats and front bumper styling.

All the G Class models are fitted with the automaker’s seven-speed 7G-Tronic gearbox along with four-wheel drive and three fully locking differentials enabling the driver of the off-roader SUV to have better control of the vehicle due to the greater frictional force exerted.
