BMW was known to be the maker of SUVs with coupe like roofline, which was characterised by X6.However, the recent updates state that another German maker is following the same lines. Mercedes-Benz is all set to this join this category with a similar styling. In this aspect, the brand had recently launched the GLE coupe with a similar profile, which fuelled quite some controversies in the industry, when it was launched in 2008.
The GLE has already done with its online launch and is ready to head to the upcoming Detroit Motor Show sometime in the initial stages of the next year. Mercedes has stated that the model will be available both in petrol as well as diesel variants. The power output of the car will be in the range of 258 bhp to 367 bhp. Also, the AMG performance line will be showcased by the top in-line GLE 450 variant.
The GLE 450 has a number of smart features, which make it quite a wonderful model. It comes with the DYNAMIC SELECT dynamic handling control system. Apart from this aspect, the model is provided with the Sports Direct-Steer system as well as the driver assistance system characteristic of Mercedes. The GLE 450 AMG will also be provided with the 9G-TRONIC nine-speed automatic transmission system and 4MATIC permanent AWD option as a standard.
When it comes to the dimensional aspect, the GLE is 4900 mm long, 2003 mm wide and 1731 mm tall. With a wheelbase of 2915 mm, it scores slightly lower than X6, which has a wheelbase of 2993 mm. The X6, when comes to the comparison has a length of 4909 mm, with a width of 1989 mm and a height of 1702 mm. The GLE will join the existing SUVs of Mercedes-Benz like G-Wagon, GL, ML, GLC and GLA models.
