Power for the S500 Coupe will come from a 4.7-litre V8 twin-turbo engine that also does duty to the S500 sedan. This locally assembled engine is capable to produce a maximum power of 453bhp at 5,250rpm – 5,500rpm. The S63 AMG, on the other hand, will be powered by a 5.5-litre V8 Bi-Turbo engine that delivers 585bhp of power and a torque of 900Nm. Transmitting power to the wheels will be a 7-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT transmission.

The S63 AMG will be available with both the RWD (rear wheel drive) and 4MATIC all-wheel drive systems. While the former version can accelerate 0-100kmph in 4.2 seconds, the latter one does the same in 3.9 seconds. The car has an electronic speed limit of 250kmph. As far as features are concerned, the S63 AMG will get an AMG body kit that consists of aggressive bumpers, AMG badge, large multi-spoke alloy wheels, a quad-exhaust and carbon-fibre interior trim. Though, the overall design and equipment of the Coupe siblings will be the same. Mercedes-Benz claims that the S63 AMG will be 65kgs lighter than the car it will replace – the CL63 AMG.
