Mercedes-Benz, the popular German car maker, has announced that a facelift version of the CLS will be launched in the Indian market sometime soon. However, the model will only have a diesel variant as of now. CLS happens to be a stylish coupe, four-door variant of the elegant E-Class model. During the initial stages, it will be sold as a Completely Built Unit (CBU), and will be placed in between the S- and E-Class models.

The new CLS 250 CDI will come to India with the same engine as present in the Mercedes E 250 CDI and ML 250 CDI. It is a 2143 cc engine, which produces a maximum power output of about 201 bhp with peak torque of about 50.98 kgm. Some styling modifications have been included in the car, among which the A-class like grille is the most popular. The version previous to this facelift was only available with a petrol engine. The first generation car was not as popular, though it came with petrol as well as diesel mills. Another reason why CLS was widely accepted by the masses was because of the fact that the German rivals, Audi and BMW, had no models in competition. However, the second generation model is directly aimed at the BMW 6-series Gran Coupe.

Incidentally, the brand with a three-pointed star will also launch the E-Class convertible at the same time. The new E 400 Cabriolet was a part of the product line-up in India for 2015. It will be powered by a 3.0-litre, six-cylinder V6 turbo petrol engine, which churns out a power output of 328 bhp with highest torque of 48.9 kgm. Power is transmitted to its wheels using a nine-speed automatic gearbox. According to Mercedes-Benz, the car is capable to clock 100 kmph from 0 in just 5.3 seconds. Also, it must be noted that the new model will come with a fully electric soft-top, which can be opened or closed even while moving at speed of about 40 kilometres per hour.
