Mercedes Benz India has launched the diesel version of new S Class premium saloon, S 350 CDI at Rs 1.07 crore (ex-showroom Pune). Mercedes Benz launched the petrol version of the locally assembled saloon in India in the beginning of this year that received overwhelming response from the customers. Bookings for the new S 350 TDI began a while ago at the authorized Mercedes Benz dealers in India at a token amount of Rs 5 lakh. Deliveries are likely to begin by June end now that the saloon has been launched. The company will assemble new S-350 CDI at its manufacturing facility located in outskirts of Pune, Chakan.
Diesel variant of S Class is equipped with a 3.0 litre V6 engine that generates a maximum power output of 255 Bhp along with a peak torque of 620 Nm. A 7G-Tronic automatic gearbox transmits power to the rear wheels. The robust engine enables the vehicle to propel from 0 to 100 kmph in a meager 6.8 seconds and touch a top speed mark of 248 Kmph.
The new S 350 TDI gets similar equipments as seen in its petrol variant S 500, however the auto maker has not equipped some of the features in S 350 TDI which are offered as standard on the petrol version. The new S 350 gets the Burmester sound system, though it is devoid of the 3D surround system. Inside the cabin, S 350 TDI is not bestowed with the Nappa leather, but it does get the leather upholstery. The 360 degree reversing camera is also missing; instead Mercedes Benz has embedded a normal reversing camera. Besides the forenamed features, night-vision package is also not available on the S 350 TDI.
