German luxury auto maker, BMW has unveiled the five door version of 2014 MINI. The predecessor variants of MINI were not offered in five door body styles, hence this is the first time that MINI will be made available in five door body style.
The upcoming 5-door variant has an increased wheelbase by 72 mm than the previous 3 door model, it has an overall wheelbase of 2,567 mm. The enhanced wheelbase allows improved legroom by 72 mm, headroom by 15 mm and shoulder room by 61 mm for the passengers sitting in the rear. New MINI also promises to proffer increased boot space by 67 litres to 278 litres. Additional luggage can be stored by folding the back seat that can be folded in 60:40 configuration.
MINI’s new five door variant possesses enhanced dimensions as it is 3,982 mm long which is 161 mm longer than the 3 door variant (the Cooper S 5-door and Cooper SD 5-door measure 4,005 mm in length).
The MINI is also 11 mm wider than the 3 door model. 2014 MINI will be offered in both petrol and diesel variants. Under the hood, a 1.5 litre three cylinder, petrol and diesel motors will be equipped in petrol and diesel variants respectively.
Cooper S and Cooper SD trims are packed with a four cylinder 2.0 litre gasoline and diesel mills respectively. 5 door variant of MINI will be made available for sale in European markets effective October 2014.
