Mercedes-Benz, the well known German auto maker, has planned to roll out an economical variant of its M-Class model under the moniker of ML250. Presently, the company sells ML350 model in the country, which has been offered with AMG styling package. The price tag of this model is quite odd as ML350 is brought in India as a Completely Built Unit (CBU), which drives its cost to around Rs. 65 lacs.

Initially the model was introduced at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo, scheduled in January this year, and at the time of its launch, the German auto maker just rolled out only 100 units of the same. However, the company there announced its intentions to locally start the assembling of M-Class at its Chakan facility, near Pune with the sidelines of C-Class, E-Class and the S-Class.

Industry experts believe that the model will sparkle at the Indian showrooms anytime soon. It is speculated that the locally assembled model will be cost effective and thus, will be priced under a price tag of Rs. 32 lacs. The move by car maker seems quite aggressive as it had earlier revealed its intentions to emerge as a leader in the luxury car market of the Indian auto industry before the end of 2014 by outpacing its country cousin BMW. Launch of a new model in M-Class series under Rs. 32 lacs will surely grab the attention of audience as till date no such option for a luxurious Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) is available in the Indian auto industry at this price.
