Mercedes Benz India is set to launch GLA Class on September 30, 2014 followed by the AMG variant slated to launch next month in domestic market. The regular version coming next week will not be offered in four-wheel drive variant; however the AMG version will come equipped with Mercedes’ 4MATIC system. Expected to be launched in both petrol and diesel engine options, the vehicle will come matched to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission transmitting power to the front wheels.
GLA petrol variant will come housed with a 1.8 litre turbocharged, four cylinder engine outputting 181 Bhp at 5500 RPM along with peak torque between 1200 RPM to 4000 RPM. Diesel powered GLA will employ a 2.2 litre, four cylinder powertrain that develops towering power of 135 Bhp at 3400 RPM and 300 Nm between 1400 RPM to 3000 RPM.
The GLA Class possesses boastful dimensions, the vehicle measures 4417 mm long, 1804 mm wide, 1494 mm tall, brags wheelbase of 2699 mm and has a ground clearance of 183 mm.
Coming from the stables of Mercedes Benz, the vehicle will come well equipped with features such as 18-inch alloy wheels, panoramic sliding sunroof, twin-pipe exhaust system, ambient lighting, ARTICO upholstery, rear seat armrest, rear seat entertainment package that will be offered as an optional provision. Among the safety features, GLA will come equipped with seven airbags, Anti Clip Regulation, Anti-Lock-Braking system, BAS, ESP, curve dynamic assist and Hill start assist.
Expected to be priced between Rs 27 lakh to Rs 32 lakh, GLA Class will face off with vehicles like Audi Q3, BMW X1, Volvo V40 Cross Country in its segment.
