      Mercedes-Benz CLA likely to be priced around Rs. 25 lakh; launch in early 2015

      Mercedes-Benz, the German luxury carmaker, that launched the new C-Class sedan recently, is now gearing up to launch the highly rated CLA sedan in the Indian car market. The company has already introduced the performance oriented CLA 45 AMG, and the regular variants of the CLA sedan is likely to go on sale in the first quarter 2015. Set to rival the Audi A3 sedan, the CLA sedan is expected to be priced in the range of Rs. 25-30 lakh. With this pricing, the CLA could be a strong competitor for the successful A3 sedan.

      Based on the A-Class hatchback, the CLA sedan comes with a muscular front bumper, long hoot with aggressive creases. Its single slat chrome grille is flanked by Bi-xenon headlamps with integrated daytime running lamps. From the rear, the sedan largely resembles to the larger CLS. The interiors of the Mercedes CLA are borrowed from the A-Class hatch, which is specifically designed to target young enthusiasts. It features aircraft-inspired round Air con vents, three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel and an advanced infotainment system.

      The Mercedes-Benz CLA sedan will be offered in both petrol and diesel fuel options. The petrol engine is a 1.6-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged unit that churns out a maximum power output of 120bhp and a peak torque of 200Nm. While the oil burner is a 2.2-litre four-cylinder unit that develops 107bhp of power and 250Nm of top torque. A seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox driving the power to front wheels will be on offer.
