One look at the cover image of this amazing wildlife Magnum opus and you shall get an idea of what Bob Rupani went through. But who is Bob Rupani? A veteran automobile journalist, a wild life enthusiast, a photographer and a kite flying champ. To surprise all, this livewire personality was also the ‘creative director’ of India’s original superhero series – Shaktimaan. He has authored many books including the famous ‘Driving Holidays in India’. Shriji Arvind Singh Mewar, the Maharana of Udaipur, also asked Bob to write a book titled ‘The Royal Udaipur RR GLK 21’ on a historic Rolls-Royce 20HP owned by his family.
Land Rover have renewed their sponsorship agreement with the Born Free Foundation, continuing its Global Conservation Partnership, first forged in 2002 and confirming Born Free as its primary global conservation partner. Born Free Foundation is an international conservation and animal rights organization based in the United Kingdom focusing on protecting and conserving wild animals.
‘Tracking the Tiger’ has been written and crafted in collaboration with respected auto journalist, and wildlife lover Bob Rupani, and Land Rover’s primary global conservation partner, the Born Free Foundation.
It is a celebration of the beauty of India’s varied wildlife and showcases in real time a 50-day journey around the country’s best tiger reserves. Bob’s first-hand account of the tiger reserves and the wildlife that resides in them is supported with real-time photography by renowned wildlife and nature photographer, Dhrittiman Mukherjee.
To execute such a herculean mission of 50 days of travelling through various sanctuaries, Bob and Land Rover chose the Freelander2 and Ranger Rover Sport, both of which are highly capable and bare potential to take on extreme terrains. These have the geometry to tackle on and off-road challenges especially in places like forests/sanctuaries. Hill Descent Control, in the vehicles can take on steeper terrains.

This book apart from being a visual treat is also related to a very noble cause. It narrates a story from the interiors of the Indian jungles, with the view to create awareness for wildlife and travel enthusiasts. The books proceeds will be donated to Born Free foundation to support their work on wildlife reserves.
This is not the first time Land Rover has associated with such a brave intention. Apart from working with Born Free, in Italy, they also support the Italian Red Cross to provide practical support to homeless people in Milan and Rome. They help thousands of people in rural South Africa with the chance of a better life by supplying mosquito nets to cut malaria rates by 75%.
