The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza has become a runaway success for the Japanese automaker and in just two months has already crossed a significant number. However, this demand has come at a cost as dealerships across the country are stating a six to eight month waiting period for the all variants of the compact SUV.

Out of this, the lower-spec models have a waiting period of six months while the top-of-the-line ZDi and ZDi Plus variants have a waiting period of nine months.  This number is likely to get extended as Maruti Suzuki has now suspended production at both its plants outside Delhi. This has been done to deal with the outcome of the fire that took place at the facility of Subros, its primary AC supplier.

This suspension of production is also likely to hit other models which currently have a waiting period of 1-3 months (depending on the dealer and model). Even, its premium Baleno hatchback, which is sold through the Nexa chain, already has a waiting period of 2 months.

Maruti Suzuki had launched the Vitara Brezza for the Indian market on March 8. It is offering the sub four-metre SUV in six different variants with the DDiS200 diesel engine and five-speed manual gearbox as the only powertrain option.
