Maruti Suzuki has been a brand that has always held a strong spot in the Indian automtive industry. The Dzire sedan based on Swift hatchback platform has been a strong performer in its segment. The Swift Dzire sedan has also topped the sales charts in May this year out-beating the highest selling Alto hatchback with about 18,953 Dzire units being sold. On the other hand, Hyundai has been the only international brand that has managed to come close to Maruti Suzuki sales in the country. Moreover, Hyundai has also earned the title for being the largest car exporter in India. Hyundai had recently launched its Xcent sedan that sprung to fame right from the day it was launched. The Xcent sedan is stated to be loaded with interesting set of features that makes it a complete value for money buy in the sub 4-meter sedan category.
The existing version of Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire is available in both Petrol and diesel variants. The petrol variant gets a 1197cc, K-12 engine mated with the impressive Variable Valve Timing (VVT) technology. The unique mechanism initiates timely valve opening and closing that results in better power and efficiency, thereby helping with smooth acceleration and a quicker response. The 1248cc, D13A diesel engine is said to be the most refined and evolved engine in this segment. The diesel version also gets an an inter-cooled turbo charger that delivers maximum efficiency and superior performance. The petrol version generates about 87 Ps of maximum power with 114 Nm of torque, whereas the diesel variant generates about 75 Ps of power with 190 Nm of torque.
Overall, Swift Dzire delivers stable, comfortable and enjoyable drive experience owing to MacPherson strut with coil spring suspension for front wheels and Torsion-beam with coil spring suspension for the rear wheels. Safety is also taken care off by the Indian car-maker with the Airbags, Brake Assist System (BAS) and Anti Lock braking system (ABS). The Dzire sedan is offered at a starting price of Rs. 4,85,162 (Ex-showroom Delhi).
The Hyundai Xcent sedan is available in Petrol and Diesel variants. The petrol version is powered by 1.2 Litre kappa dual VTVT engine, whereas the diesel version shall be powered by 1.1litre U2 technology engine. The Hyundai Xcent is placed in straight line of competition with the likes of Maruti Dzire and Honda Amaze. The petrol variant of the sedan is available with an automatic transmission apart from a regular manual transmission version, whereas diesel variant is only available in manual transmission version. The sedan has been quite popular ever since it was introduced about 2 months ago in the country. Since its launch, Hyundai has already sold about 7000 units in the country.
Hyundai has also given much importance to safety of the occupants. The production version is expected to be loaded with Anti-lock braking system, rear defogger, dual airbags, central locking, rear parking assist and central locking. The newly launched Hyundai Xcent sedan has been launched in the Indian market with an attractive price tag of 4.66 Lakh (Ex-showroom Delhi). The diesel version is offered at a starting price of Rs 5.56 Lakh.
