      Maruti Suzuki embarks damage assessment activities at Manesar plant

      A week after the turbulent violence witnessed at its Manesar plant that claimed the life of a higher level management executive leaving over 100 workers injured, the country’s largest automaker, Maruti Suzuki India has embarked upon assessing the damage occurred to the plant while prioritising the safety of its employees since some accused workers have not been arrested.

      As per a statement released by the company, the extent of damage caused the explosive agitation is yet to be gauged, emphasis is laid on assuring the employees of safe working conditions. Since the day of such violent act initiated at the Manesar facility, the production activities have come to halt. Eventually, the car maker was capable of despatching the existing inventory of bestselling models, Swift range, SX4 and A-Star.

      At present, the company finds it tough to analyse the time for restarting the production as the region still holds the threat factor that is restraining the commencement of smooth manufacturing activities.

      While stating about its concern for its employees, Maruti Suzuki affirmed that a team of 25 members has been constituted with a view to attend the injured employees. The automaker had declared a lock out on 21st July in a bid to pacify the violence and ensure highest possible safety to its employees.

      The Haryana government intervened the situation and has ordered a special investigation team (SIT) led by Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ravinder Tomar to investigate the matter. The police has till now taken over 97 workers under custody.
