India's leading car-making brand Maruti Suzuki gained a solid footing in the domestic market with the 800 hatchback launched way back in the 80's. Gradually, as 800 slowly got phased out, the newer sibbling Alto took charge. Since its launch, Alto has indeed earned the title of being the world's largest selling small car for nine times in a row, with the most recent one being 'largest-selling small car in the world in 2014'. The India's favorite budget hatchback has indeed outwitted global hots-sellers like Volkswagen Golf in Germany and Daihatsu Tanto, Toyota Aqua and Honda Fit in Japan by a huge margin.
