Maruti Suzuki India Ltd, the unconquered and the unmatched, the daddy of automobile industry. It has consistently met the basic Indian needs and has its sheer quality and desi style designs do the icing on the cake. Surviving and reviving are the 2 policies that go side by side for the giant while it has recently released a report of its performance of 2010-2011.

Maruti accounts for nearly 45% of the domestic car market and is popular for producing cars that are completely compatible with the overall requirements of its buyers. Wagon R ,Alto,Dzire,Swift,SX4 are some of its productions that today are responsible for its all the more improved performance be it in manufacturing or sales.

The co. has its manufacturing facilities in Gurgaon and Manesar. The Gurgaon Facility has three fully integrated units which account for the production of about 7, 00,000 vehicles annually. K-series engines are also a part of the production function and in addition, the process is assisted by robots of which about half are formed in -house. Alto, Wagon R, Omni, Estilo, Eeco and Gypsy are manufactured in this area. Manesar Facility is capable of producing 5, 50,000 vehicles every year. Both units in the combined form are responsible for the production of 12, 50,000 vehicles annually.

The tide of production was lowered down by the discontinuation in the making of some models. The first to pass out was Maruti Zen in 2006 which was followed by Baleno and Grand Vitara XL7 in 2007.The trend continued with Esteem and Zen Estilo saying bid adieu to the industry in 2008 and 2009 respectively.2010 was not far behind in the race and witnessed the ouster of Versa. The cars that were discontinued with led to the Co. being adopting some strong measures and methods to make the ouster process poise.

It is important to note that in 2009, Maruti co. overpowered its partner Suzuki Motor Corporation in overall production. Maruti Suzuki dispersed 9, 66,399 units, while Suzuki Motor Corporation could only manage to reach at a production of around 9, 08,302 cars. A Star came out with flying colours and topped the overseas sales.Till, 2010 Maruti Suzuki performed superbly until the catastrophe' came knocking.

2011 turned the tables for the Co. with lukewarm outcomes doing the round. The Production Facility of Manesar was struck by a nightmare in broad daylight when it was hit by a strike by the working staff. The disruption continued for days and with no signs of abating, the menace was dealt with, by shifting the production of Swift Dzire to Gurgaon. This naturally affected the overall scorecard of the vehicle as lower sales volume was there to be seen.

During 2011, Production Management System (PMS), a tool that is being adopted in order to enhance the production performance, has been designed to aid the manufacturers in achieving perfection and error-free process of communication and reaching out. According to experts the system will investigate and supervise the functioning at all levels and ensures that precision is a major target taken along every step.

Thus, feeling the highs and the lows, the Co. always has and will continue to serve the people in its own creative way and trust and credibility that it enjoys will motivate Maruti to give its ever best.
