Struggling to leave a mark in mid-sized sedan segment, India’s largest auto maker, Maruti Suzuki India is on verge of unleashing Ciaz sedan in domestic market. While the launch is slated to happen in second half of September, the company has reportedly commenced production of Ciaz at its manufacturing unit located in Manesar, Haryana. Unveiled at the 2014 Auto Expo earlier this year at Greater Noida, the sedan attracted attention of onlookers and auto aficionados.
Caught testing several times across India the production version seems to have taken cues from SX4 and Kizashi. Designed aesthetically the new Ciaz sedan gets a four slat grille in the front, the head lights flaunt a distinguished design and projector lamps are also expected to be on the feature list. Inside the cabin, one can see ample similarity with MSI’s premium sedan, Kizashi. A two-tone dashboard equipped with an integrated entertainment system, AC vents for the passengers sitting at rear, electric OVRMs and steering mounted audio controls are some of the features that the vehicle will be bestowed with.
Among the optional equipment list, a 5-inch display for the infotainment system, reverse parking, 16-inch alloy wheels, climate control air-conditioning, additional airbags, push button start and Anti-Lock-Braking system are included.
As far pricing is concerned we expect that Maruti Suzuki India will tag is competitively to give Ciaz a good start in C segment. The segment is presently being ruled by new Honda City and among other viable options Hyundai Verna is also included. We expect that Ciaz range could start from Rs 7.5 lakh (please note this is a hypothetical price).
