With the year soon coming to an end and new safety regulations to be in place soon, automakers have been offering new models with features like airbags and ABS with EBD. Apart from the Toyota and Volkswagen models in India, Maruti has also joined the bandwagon with the launch of Baleno hatchback in India that also gets dual airbags along with ABS and EBD system. Moving ahead, sources have revealed that the company has been planning on offering the base and mid trims of Celerio with a safety pack that could include Anti-lock braking system and dual front airbags.
Celerio from Maruti Suzuki being the first car to receive automated manual transmission (AMT) has been a popular choice in its segment. The company had also introduced an in-house designed diesel engine option for the Celerio. As per sources the company shall rename the new models as LXi (O) and VXi (O). The AMT variant could get a new ZXi (O) trim. Whereas, in diesel may get LDi (O) and VDi (O) trims. The safety pack could also improve Maruti’s flak received with poor performance in NCAP tests.
