      Many budget SUVs coming to India in 2016

      The Indian car market is on the rise as several new budget SUVs will be making their way into India in 2016. This year will be packed several launches of which a majority shall be compact and budget SUVs. Even the number of MUVs and crossovers is very high for 2016. Following are some of the launches for 2016:

       

      Datsun RediGO:

      Datsun RediGo Concept

      This is the compact SUV that will be the raised version of something as small as an Alto. This will be the first SUV/crossover in this segment that will be based on the Renault-Nissan CMF-A platform and will be powered by a 1.0-litre petrol engine. The RediGO shall be coming to India first and then will be exported to other markets. It will be getting features like touchscreen system with reverse parking sensors, bluetooth, aux and USB connectivity. The Datsun RediGO will be made available in India in the second half of 2016.

       

      Maruti Ignis:

       

      This is another small budget SUV that will be making its way into India by mid-2016. This compact SUV will be powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine and the diesel will be the 1.3-litre. This SUV will be Celerio sized and will be priced at about Rs 6-8 lakhs. The Ignis will be much smaller than the Ecosport and the Hyundai i20 Active as well. This is another first-in-class SUV and it will be majorly sold with a petrol engine. 

       

      Maruti YBA/Vitara Brezza

       

      Maruti’s SUV against the Ecosport. The Ford Ecosport has been the segment leader, and now YBA will be coming in early 2016. This new SUV will be powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine and a 1.0-litre BoosterJet petrol, while the diesel will be a 1.3-litre 90bhp engine. This will be offered with a five-speed manual and the petrol will be offered with a CVT also.

       

      Mahindra S101/XUV100

       

      The Mahindra XUV100 is another crossover that is due to be launched next year. This new micro SUV will be powered by a 1.2-litre petrol and diesel engine options. This will even be offered with AMT as well. The S101 is a five-seater that will targeting first-time car buyers.
